The Banking Royal Commission has shone a spotlight on conflicts of interest in the financial services sector and revealed how investment advisors who are not independent may be motivated by the company’s or their own personal benefit to the detriment of the client. Prudential is proud to confirm that it, without qualification, fulfils the three ‘independence’ criteria as summarised by ASIC:

• Prudential does not receive:
  – Commissions (apart from commissions that are rebated in full);
  – Volume based remuneration from issuers of financial products; or
  – Other gifts or benefits from product issuers which may reasonably be expected to influence.
• Prudential operates free from direct or indirect restrictions relating to the financial products; and
• Prudential is free from conflicts of interest that might arise from any relationships with product issuers.

As a true independent advisor, Prudential’s only source of remuneration is from a client’s pre-arranged fee. This gives assurance to all of Prudential’s clients that all actions and recommendations are made purely for their best interests.
